We took some time to sit down with Jasmin Modelo, one of the creative minds behind Motimatic. Jasmin is always bringing fresh ideas to the table and making a real impact on our team. Here’s what she had to share about her role and what drives her.
What’s your role at Motimatic, and how would you describe your team?
My role is Associate Director, Product Operations. I am lucky to be part of a team comprised of amazing women who I would describe as reliable, supportive, and always having a positive mindset.
What’s an aspect of your team culture that you really enjoy?
I enjoy the collaborative nature of my team and the level of responsiveness when it comes to critical matters and projects. I know I am able to count on my team because of the level of support and willingness amongst my team mates. It is a great pleasure not only to work with a team with amazing work ethic but also knowing how kind and empathetic each team member is at a personal level.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is the people. I am able to look forward to each day knowing that I am surrounded by a great network of talented and dedicated individuals that really set the bar high in all aspects of the work.
Did you ever think you’d end up working in higher education or enrollment marketing, particularly in areas like student retention or improving student persistence?
An important aspect for the work I choose to do is always making sure its rewarding and that I really understand the impact my work creates. While I did not explicitly think of the field of higher education, the work I do at Motimatic has definitely been rewarding. It's been very fulfilling to learn about the challenges within higher ed and being able to create an impact in supporting students in their educational journey through Motimatic.
Which parts of Motimatic’s mission, such as preventing student dropouts or boosting student enrollment, resonate most with you?
Since obtaining my bachelors degree was a very valuable experience for me, Motimatic's mission of boosting student enrollment and retention resonates with me the most. Everyone's journey with higher ed is different and complex, so being able to be involved as much as possible in a student's journey is important to set them up for success.
What’s been your biggest accomplishment on our team?
My biggest accomplishment was the moment we were able to deliver our Youtube ads into Youtube Shorts. It was a challenging process due to the feature being tested in beta and initially it seemed that it was not going to be a fit for our ads, but further testing proved successful. Youtube Shorts is our second most delivered placement next to In-stream. It was a great step in creating a presence for Motimatic in the emerging space of short-form video.
Who within the company inspires you the most?
I truly would not be where I am without the incredible support and mentorship of Victoria Chuburkova, who I know is such an immense source of inspiration not only for me and my colleagues but for anyone who is lucky to make her acquaintance. She inspires me to not only show up with new ideas but follow through to fruition. Victoria is a one-of-a-kind leader who approaches work with a great level of attention and detail, to which everyday I strive to channel my own "inner-Victoria".
What resources have you found most helpful for improving student retention strategies or supporting workforce training programs for displaced workers?
The resources I find most helpful for improving student retention strategies often deal with landing pages that have direct lines of support, whether that be advisors, academic centers, etc., that allow easy access and contact methods. Institutions that provide resources to financial aid, housing or health benefits are also helpful, as these are resources that can often hold back a student from continuing on their journey.
What’s the most unique thing about working at Motimatic?
I would say the product we have developed is unlike anything I would have expected to see possible, especially in the field of higher education. It is amazing to see the continual improvements made by the engineering team to develop tools and automation that not only make operational work more efficient, but are incredibly innovative.
How have you grown professionally during your time here?
I began my time at Motimatic as an analyst/associate and it has been quite a journey looking back at where I started. I definitely would not have gotten to where I am now without pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, in the best way possible. I have learned and developed many skills from my time here, from knowledge about ad networks to problem-solving and adaptability. I strive to improve continuously and greatly believe I would not have grown to the extent I have if not for my time here at Motimatic.
